Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has recently been linked with moves to Manchester United and Paris St Germain. Both clubs are in the market for a top goalkeeper, of whom there are little in the world. Lloris is one of them and it is almost certain that Spurs will receive an offer for their star goalkeeper from either one of these clubs in the near future. Amongst those transfer rumours, Lloris has admitted that he would like to one day win the Champions League. It almost looks impossible to achieve with Tottenham, who have only qualified for this competition once in their history.
A move to a top club like United or PSG will be the answer. United have returned to the Premier European competition but they are likely to be without their star goalkeeper David de Gea. The Spaniard is reportedly on the verge of a move to Real Madrid and it will begin the merry-go-round involving several players. Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen, though, reckons that the club should do everything in their powers to retain the Frenchman, who was one of the big signings made by the club a few years ago. After having cost close to € 15 million, Lloris has played a close to 100 league matches for Spurs.
“He’s a great guy, great captain, great goalkeeper and a brilliant player for us. He’s the captain, very important and this season he was one of our best players. He’s been outstanding for us and if you want to continue growing as a club you have to keep your best players and Hugo is one of them.I hope Tottenham can keep him. It will be a sign for everyone next year that we want to compete in the Premier League. We ended the season well in the last two games and we didn’t expect to finish fifth,” saidVertonghen.
