Ian Wright surprised Heung-min Son has not been lured from Tottenham Hotspur

Arsenal legend-turned-pundit Ian Wright is surprised by the fact that Heung-min Son has not been linked with any high-profile European clubs across Europe. The South Korea international has transformed into a top performer for Tottenham Hotspur and of late, he has taken over the scoring mantle in the absence of the injured Harry Kane.

Speaking on BBC 5 Live Sport, Wright said that he would have loved the likes of Harry Kane and Dele Alli to feature alongside Son against Borussia Dortmund, though that won’t be the case. He added that the Asian superstar should be worth at least £70million on current form and he is surprised that none of the elite European clubs have made an approach for him.

He said on Monday night: “I’d have loved to have seen Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Son fit enough to play in this game [against Dortmund. Surprised that he’s not been taken out of there yet or people are not linked with him. Son is [worth] £70million now and surely he’s got to be in and around that money.”

In the injury absence of Alli and Kane, Spurs were expected to crumble under the expectations and that has somewhat been the case with the ouster from the FA Cup and League Cup. However, they have managed to stay in the Premier League title race with a winning run where Son has contributed by scoring in three successive matches.

Despite the positives, Spurs can’t hide from the fact that they have not won any kind of silverware over the past decade and it will be interesting to see how far they can progress during the Champions League knockouts this season. Spurs are scheduled to host Borussia Dortmund during the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 on Wednesday night.
