Mauricio Pochettino is in search of a forward that he can place alongside with Harry Kane and fingers are pointing towards Islam Slimani of Sporting Lisbon. The Argentine coach has begun to lose faith on Soldado and Adebayor, this has forced the tactician on having to search around for a potential signing and Slimani has turned into a possible summer acquisition.
Islam Slimani is a 26 year old Algerian forward who has managed to score 7 goals for Sporting Lisbon in 11 league appearances and he also has experience in being the main goal-scoring player for his team as Slimani represented Algeria in the 2014 World Cup as well as the African Cup of Nations where he has managed on becoming Algeria’s joint top scorer.
Tottenham Hotspur has been attempting to sign Slimani since the early stages of the season as the Premier League club launched an offer in the region of €8 million but it was rejected by Sporting Lisbon as the Portuguese outfit has placed a price tag for Slimani of around €20 million.
When the summer transfer window opens, Tottenham Hotspur is expected to launch a good enough offer that can lure Slimani to White Hart Lane but they will face stiff competition from West Ham United and Leicester City as those clubs have also revealed their interest and intention to sign the Algerian forward.
In order to create enough funds for the arrival of Islam Slimani, Mauricio Pochettino could opt to sell Soldado and Adebayor at the end of the current season.
Mauricio Pochettino has an advantage over West Ham United and Leicester City as his club has already made a number of transactions with Sporting Lisbon and their latest one was the deal involving the 21 year old English defender Eric Dier who was signed by the Premier League club for a price tag of €4 million.
